Frankie Oliver Belk Harrison

Frankie Oliver Belk Harrison, age 89, died Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the McLeod Hospice House. A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31 at the First Baptist Church with burial following in Grove Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Belk Funeral Home and other times at 123 Alabama Drive.

Born in Florence County, the daughter of the late Reverend Henry Vince Oliver and Cleo Morrell Oliver, she was married to the late Marion C. Belk, and then to Theodore "Teddy" Harrison. Frankie was co-founder and officer of Belk-King (Belk) Funeral Home and Darlington Florist. She was a licensed funeral director and served as former President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association. Her passion was the funeral home caring for the families of the community with love and compassion. Frankie was involved in and spoke at many lay renewals about her love for the Lord. She cooked for the First Baptist Church Wednesday Family Night and Golden Age Club until the time she realized, she was older than those she was cooking for. She was a former member of Darlington Presbyterian Church and presently, the First Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Karen Belk of Florence; two sons and daughters-in-law: M. Sidney and Lynda Belk of Darlington and Dean and Shelley Belk of Raleigh, NC, her grandchildren: Anna DeWitt, Charis S. O'Neal and husband, Andy; Jeremy Saunders and wife, L.J.; Curry Belk and wife, Tiffany; Jaby A. Belk, Ellison Belk, and Hayes Belk; great-grandchildren: Bethany Ann, Rhema, Lily, Hannah, Riley, Kristen, Lyndsey Grace, Sydney, Alexis, Evan and Curk; and a host of nieces and nephews; her stepchildren: Paula Ennis, Melissa Kirby and Theodore "Ted" Harrison; step great-grandchildren, Tyler and Austin Kirby; brother, Joseph "Jody" (Janet) Oliver of Florence; sister, Lillian O. Tedder of Sardis; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Libba King of Darlington; sister-in-law, Sarah Belk of Florida; and a longtime faithful employee and friend who was like a son, Robert Eaddy Brown.

Frankie was from a loving family of eleven children of which their parents died at a very young age, leaving the older siblings to raise the younger ones. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Foster, Ivy, Bill and H. V. Oliver, Dean Meyer, Effie Flowers, Doris Gable and Ruby Parrish.

Special recognition, gratitude and love are expressed to her Hospice nurse, Corlie Burr.
