A funeral service for Jane Coker Dunbar, 77, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Reverend Dr. Wendell R. Estep will officiate the service. Pallbearers are Mac Sawyer, Bishop Sawyer, Travis Hancock, Lucas Brown, Ken Wingate and Bobby McNeely. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2017, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dunbar died Thursday, June 1, 2017. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Covington and Katherine White Coker. She graduated from Dreher High School and attended Columbia College. She was a licensed funeral director and former vice president of Dunbar Funeral Home. She was a former member of the Board of Directors of Sharing God's Love. Jane and her husband, John, established the Dunbar Center for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity (ADHD) Disorder program through the USC School of Medicine.

Surviving are her husband, John Stewart Dunbar III; daughters, Laine Dunbar and her husband, David Hancock, Betsy Dunbar Sawyer and her husband, Val, all of Columbia; sister, Betsy Coker Thrash of Summerville; grandchildren, Travis Hancock and his wife, Lexi, Carrie Brown and her husband, Lucas, Mac Sawyer, Bishop Sawyer and his wife, Rachel, and Landon Sawyer; great-grandchildren, Reece Brown, Mason Brown, Chase Hancock, Quinn Gladson and Ben Sawyer.
