Larry Gantt Obituary

Larry Wayne Gantt, 71, husband of Judy West Gantt, died Friday, December 14, 2018 at his home.

The first-born child in Greenwood County, January 1, 1947, he was a son of the late Paul E. and Macy Mabry Gantt. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Wayne began his employment with Blyth Funeral Home as a teenager in 1960 delivering calendars for the funeral home. His affiliation with Blyth would evolve into a permanent position and later owner of the company; a position he holds to this day. He was also the owner of Oakbrook Memorial Park in Greenwood. 

A member of the First Baptist Church, Wayne was also a former Burton Center Board Member and a former member of the Greenwood Kiwanis Club.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 52 years are his two sons, Larry W. Gantt, II and wife Jennifer of Ninety Six and Stephen R. Gantt and wife Stacey of Greenwood; two brothers, Alton Gantt and wife Shelvey and Jerry Gantt and wife Bernice, all of Greenwood; his adored grandchildren, Gracen Gantt of Columbia, Brooks and Andrew Gantt, both of Greenwood and Jordan and Chandler Raines, both of Ninety Six and special daughter-in-law, Hannah Gantt. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tony Hopkins, Dr. J. William Harris and Dr. Chuck Moates officiating.

Entombment will be in the Oakbrook Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Bell, Mark Moore, Ben Scurry, Kenneth Parham, Ed Moore, Russell Hughes, Peter Manning, David Tompkins, Bill Britt and Jimmy Brock.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 Sunday evening. 

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 722 Grace Street, Greenwood, SC 29649 or to the charity of one’s choice.
