Mildred L. Driggers

February 6, 1923 ~ June 10, 2012 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Georgetown, SC

Mrs. Mildred Louise Lowder Driggers, 89, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 10th, 2012 in Prince George Health Care Center after a long illness.

Mrs. Driggers was born in Florence County on February 6th, 1923. She was a daughter of the late Willie G. Lowder and the late Everett Player Lowder, and was the widow of the late Ralph C. Driggers, Sr. Mrs. Driggers attended Screven Baptist Church in Georgetown and happily worked as homemaker – always dutifully taking care of her family. She was a delightful and friendly lady who was deeply devoted to her family. Mrs. Driggers' children were her world and she found her life's satisfaction in taking care of them. She was a fabulous cook and loved to prepare meals for friends and family. Mrs. Driggers was avid in the outdoors and nature, often going camping and fishing with her friends and family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Mrs. Driggers lived simply, but was loved broadly.

The family would like to extend a special "thank-you" to Dr. W.E. Easterlin and the nurses and staff of Prince George Health Care Center - especially the Palmetto Unit – for the compassionate care shown to Mrs. Driggers in her times of need. Words are not enough to express the gratitude felt for these many acts of kindness.

Mrs. Driggers' surviving family includes her two sons, Ralph Clifton Driggers, Jr. (Gayle), of Pawley's Island, and William Joseph Driggers, of Murrells Inlet; her daughter, Christa Elizabeth Rentz (Ronnie), of Taylors; her sixteen grandchildren; her eleven great-grandchildren; and her numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Driggers is preceded in death by her daughter, Millie Driggers Robertson; her grandson, John Rentz-Neely; her brother, William Lowder; and her sisters, Hazel Hancock and Dot Behl.

The family of Mrs. Driggers will have visitation from eleven o'clock a.m. until noon, Wednesday, June 13th, 2012 in the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Driggers will be held at noon on Wednesday, June 13th, 2012 in the Brockington Funeral Home Chapel at 122 West Thomas Street in Lake City. The Reverend D. Keith Driggers will be officiating. Burial and committal services will follow the funeral in the Bethel Church Cemetery at Kelley's Crossroad in Olanta.
