Samuel Aaron Brockington, 34, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, after a brief illness.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2017, in Lake City Cemetery, N. Church Street, Lake City, SC, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home of Florence. A reception will follow at Lake City United Methodist Church, 229 W. Main St., Lake City, SC.

Aaron was born in Charleston, SC, a son of Samuel K. and Nancy Bess Brockington of Lake City. He graduated from The Citadel in 2003 with a degree in Psychology. He continued his education at Piedmont Technical College and earned his associate's degree in Funeral Service.

He was a third-generation funeral director and continued the family tradition working with J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home (Charleston), Thompson Funeral Home (West Columbia), and finally managing Brockington Funeral Home in Lake City.

Aaron was a member of Lake City United Methodist Church. He was an Eagle Scout and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and vintage cars. He especially enjoyed goose hunting in Maryland every Thanksgiving.

Survivors include his wife, Ashley Hall Brockington, and son, Robert Aaron Brockington, of Florence; his parents, Sam and Nancy Brockington, of Lake City; parents-in-law, Robert S. and Becky Hall, also of Florence; three sisters, Bess Bluestein of Sullivans Island, SC, Annalise Grunewald of Santos, Mexico, and Eleanor Brockington of Lake City, SC; and a brother, Edward Bess, of New York, NY.
