Carrie White Obituary

Carrie Lee Coggins White, 94, widow of William Joseph “Billy” White of Old Shoals Junction Road died at her home on Monday, November 29, 2021.

Born in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Elford and Myrtle Kyle Cash Coggins. She was an active member of the Ware Shoals United Methodist Church where she had been a Sunday school teacher for many years, served as Treasurer for 24 years and was active in the UMW. In 1952 she and her husband Billy founded Parker-White Funeral Home where she served for 65 years. She was active in the community and was a charter member and former president of the Ware Shoals Woman’s Civic Club.

Surviving are a son, William Joseph White, Jr. (Marie) of Ware Shoals, two daughters, Jane Farr (Edward C.) of Ware Shoals, and Jenny Pitts of Ware Shoals, two sisters, Virginia C. Trammell (Ed) of Spartanburg and Mabel C. Foster of Cheraw, five grandchildren, Tara Farr, Clay Farr, Joseph White, Michael Pitts, and David Pitts, four great grandchildren, Rowan Pitts, Miller Pitts, Verity White, Mary Kerr Pitts.

She was predeceased by a brother, Howard A. Coggins.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Ware Shoals United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. William “Bill” Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 12 to 1 PM on Saturday at the church prior to the service. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials made to the Ware Shoals United Methodist Church Food Pantry, Box 59, Ware Shoals, SC 29692.
