Charles David Griggs

Mr. Charles David Griggs, age 71, died Monday, July 8, 2013. Mr. Griggs was born February 4, 1942 in Morven, NC a son of the late Thurston and Bernice Vaughn Griggs. He was a graduate of Morven High School and was a retired Supervisor with Coffing Hoists with 35 years of service. Following his retirement, Charles was associated with the Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, Chesterfield, SC as a Funeral Assistant.

Charles was a lifelong member of Sandy Plains United Methodist Church, and was a devoted family man. He loved the outdoors, animals, and spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his buddies. Charles was a loving man with a heart of gold, and will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, Charles was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Harold Griggs and Boyce Griggs.

Survivors include a nephew: Rodney Griggs, who was like a son, 2 Brothers: John Wesley (Donnie Faye) Griggs of Morven, NC and Carl Thomas (Frances) Griggs of Wadesboro, NC , Nieces and Nephews: Karen Griggs (Chuck) Helms and son Wesley Helms, Wanda Griggs (Jeff) Harris and children Misty, Heather, and Josh Harris, Becky Griggs (Stephen) Leonard and children, Abigail, Michael, David, and Ethan Leonard, Angie Griggs (Mike) Creager and children Kelsey and Karlee Creager, Close Cousin: Kay Vaughn (Dwayne) Holmes and children Elizabeth, Evan, Erica, and Emily Holmes, Devoted Companion: "T T", his dog who stayed by his side.

FUNERAL. SERVICE: 2:00pm, Friday, July 12, 2013 at Sandy Plains United Methodist Church, Morven, NC.

INTERMENT: Will follow in the church cemetery.

VISITATION: 5:00-7:00pm Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, Chesterfield, SC.
