Daniel William Lloyd Benton, 38, of Florence passed away at his home on Friday, January 7, 2022. Daniel was born in Burlington, North Carolina on December 23, 1983, the son of the late William Glenn Benton and Carleen Lane Benton.
Daniel was a humble young man with a huge heart. He graduated from Camden Military Academy and Anderson University. One would only have to look in his closet to know that he loved the Clemson Tigers, as he owned a large amount of Clemson attire and enjoyed following the football games. In addition to the Tigers, Daniel loved music and old cars, specifically an old 1971 Barracuda. Following Daniel’s graduation from Anderson University, he was unsure of what he wanted to do professionally. It was while attending the funeral of a friend that he decided he wanted to pursue a degree in mortuary science. He attended and received his degree from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a dedicated and beloved employee of Palmetto Professional Services.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Traesa Brown of Florence; his mother, Carleen Lane Benton (Chester Gambrell) of Lake Wateree, SC; a brother, Jonathan Lane Benton (Julie) of Blythewood, SC; a niece and nephew, Aliyah and Troy Benton, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Barbara Brown of Jacksonville, Florida, and three fur babies that he dearly loved.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Magnolia Cemetery in Latta, South Carolina. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
If you would like to remember Daniel, the family suggests that memorials be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 11796, Charlotte, North Carolina 28220 or at www.cancer.org.
