Edgar "Eddie" Allen Fargis, Jr.

Edgar “Eddie” Allen Fargis Jr., 69, of Spartanburg, SC died Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born September 5, 1951, in Winston-Salem, NC he was the son of the late Edgar Allen Fargis Sr. and Frances Wright Fargis.

A graduate of Spartanburg High School, Eddie attended Charleston Southern University. He was a retired funeral director with The J. F. Floyd Mortuary after 23 years of service. He was President of the Kiwanis Club of Spartanburg and an active member of The Episcopal Church of the Advent. He served as past executive director of The Brotherhood of St. Andrew, former Lay Reader, Vestryman, Chalice Bearer and was a member of the pastoral care team.

Survivors include his wife, Regina Tucker Fargis; daughters, Alison Schmitt, and Michaela Miller (Tyler); sons, William Schmitt (Liam), Grayson Schmitt and Sylar Fargis-Schmitt; granddaughter, Penelope Miller and “Scout Fargis” his four legged child. 

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, July 9, 2021 at The Episcopal Church of the Advent, conducted by the Rev. J. Edward Morris, The Rev. Dr. Clay H. Turner and The Rev. Bruce Walker. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. 

Pallbearers will be Adair Watters, Larry Moore, Chip Smith, Mickey Pierce, Maxey Lynn and Roy Smith. 

Members of the Kiwanis Club of Spartanburg will serve as Honorary Escort.
