Evelyn Neumann Obituary

Evelyn R. Neumann, 85, widow of Roderick R. Neumann passed away Sunday July 25, 2021.

Evelyn was born March 15, 1936 in Ruffin, South Carolina to the late Thomas Marvin and Sarah R. Robertson. She was a retired Funeral Director and Manager with J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. In July 1986, she passed the State Board for Funeral Directors. She was one of the first women to become a funeral director and the second licensed woman Director to work for Stuhrs. She established the rules for Cremations for the State of South Carolina.

Evelyn was a member of Cherokee United Methodist Church. She served on the Administration Board, Trustee Committee and Pastor Parish Committee. She was a Sunday School teacher for most of her life with her last teaching the Boone Bowen Bible Class at Cherokee Place until the class was dissolved. She was a Member of the United Methodist Women and Anita Way Circle where she heard several offices.

Evelyn was also a member of the Rotary Club of Goose Greek where she was given the Paul Harris Fellow Recognition for the collections for the Cart Fund.

Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Theresa N. Hodges (Virgil) and Katrina Neumann all of North Charleston, SC; granddaughter Alissa B. Kern (Mike) of Ladson, SC; great-grand-daughter Katelyn B. Kern and great-grand-son Parker B. Kern both of Ladson, SC; brother Harold Robertson (Della) of Walterboro, SC; special cousins Mary Grace Robertson of Walterboro, SC and Annette Malchiodi (Ken) of Goose Greek, SC; and her companion Sunny (the cat). She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Van Robertson and Larry Gene Robertson and special cousin Lily Faye Pool.
