Mr. Glenn Malcolm McDonald passed away Sunday, May 11 surrounded by family and friends.
He was born in Asheville, NC the son of the late Leland S. McDonald and Pearl S. McDonald. Glenn studied at Elon College and NC State University. He worked as a Junior Draftsman with Western Electric in Burlington, NC, also as an Engineer with Atlantic Research Corp. in Arlington, VA on Solid Propellant Missiles including the Nike, Polaris and Zeus Missiles. He retired after 24 years with Duke Power as a Design Engineer, worked on various Steam and Coal plant projects around the Piedmont area of NC and the Oconee Nuclear Station and Bad Creek project in Upstate SC. He received the National Defense Service Medal and was in Heavy Artillery Brigade in the US Army. He was a member of First Scots Independent Presbyterian Church, and a former member and Deacon at Meadowbrook Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Del Marie McDonald; son, Thomas Kelly McDonald and wife Dr. Nichole McDonald; step-children, Bruce and Robin Guilloud, Brian Guilloud, Mark and Alison Guilloud, Terri and John Lopresti, Debbie Guilloud; 5 granddaughters and 2 grandsons. He was predeceased by a wife, Patricia S. McDonald.
Funeral services for Mr. Glenn Malcolm McDonald age 81 will be held Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 11:30am at The Baptist Church of Beaufort, 600 Charles Street, Beaufort, SC. Rev. Alex Mark will officiate, directed by Norton Funeral Home, Hartsville Chapel . Burial with Military Rites will be held at 1:00pm Thursday at Beaufort National Cemetery. A reception will be held after the graveside service at the home of Dr. & Mrs. Mark Guilloud on 705 Washington Street in Beaufort. Memorials may be made to the First Scots Independent Presbyterian Building Fund, P.O. Box 1774, Beaufort, SC 29901, or the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311.
