Harvey Nickles "Nick" Propst

A memorial service for Harvey Nickles “Nick” Propst, 79, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Shandon Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.

Mr. Propst passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024. Born in Winnsboro, he was the son of the late Floyd Ernest Propst Jr. and Onie Cochran Propst. Nick worked as Human Resource Manager for Shakespeare Monofilament for 38 years. He graduated from Winnsboro High School and earned a BA in Education from the University of South Carolina. He also served in the National Guard. Nick loved animals, especially dogs, cats, macaws and doves. He owned Nick Propst Magic and Balloons and was a children’s entertainer and semi-pro magician and balloon artist.

Most recently, Nick was a valued associate with Dunbar Funeral Home. He was a member of Shandon Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Lois H. Propst; daughters, Holbrook Propst and Catrina Plyler (T.J. Plyler); grandchildren, Annabelle Lee Plyler and Thomas Albion Plyler; and brother, Floyd Ernest Propst III (Laurie). In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Graham Pope.
