James E. Allen

Union, SC

Mr. James Edward Allen, age 72, husband of Patsy Burnett Allen of 413 Old Buncombe Rd., Union, SC., passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. Allen was born in Chester County, December 6, 1941, a son of the late Robert E. Allen and Hazel Owens Allen. He was a graduate of Cincinnati College of Funeral Service, and formerly worked as a licensed funeral director at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home in Greenville and the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Mr. Allen had also been employed with the City of Union Water Works and had retired from Spartanburg Water Works. He was a member of Padgett's Creek Baptist Church, the Cross Anchor Masonic Lodge 262, and was a former member of the SC National Guard.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Jeff A. Allen and wife Jennifer and Jason B. Allen and wife Dawn all of Union; three grandchildren, Levi, Elizabeth, and Noah Allen. Mr. Allen was predeceased by a brother, Robert Timothy Allen.

Graveside Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 16, 2013 at Padgett's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Carol Caldwell and Rev. Billy Sumner. The following are asked to form the honorary escort John Hines, Joey Allen, Brian Gaston, Bud Whitmire, Johnny Burnett, Frankie Greer, Donnie Johnson, Bruce Blackwell, and Neil Howell. Visitation will be held Sunday evening, 6:00 until 8:00 PM, at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
