Jeanne W. Gailey

Jeanne W. Gailey, 79, of Lexington, wife of Charles Gailey, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Lexington Medical Center.

Born in Wadesboro, NC, she was a daughter of the late Richard Vann Wheless and Mary Velna Braswell Wheless. She retired from South Carolina Employment Security Commission after twenty-eight years of working in both Greenwood and Lexington offices. Jeanne was an experienced pageant judge and advisor to numerous Miss Greenwood and Junior Miss Greenwood contestants. She was past president of Greenwood Jaycee-Ettes and active in the early years of the South Carolina Festival of Flowers.

She is survived by her husband, Charles of the home; her son, L. Ruple Harley, III (Carol) of Ninety Six; her daughter, Allison Harley Cobb (Michael) of Alpharetta, GA; six grandchildren, Kerri Thompson (Will), Davis Renee Migdalas (Theo), both of Greenwood, Ben Harley of West Columbia, Hampton Cobb, Davis Cobb, and AliGrace Cobb, all of Alpharetta, GA; and two great grandchildren, Annie Migdalas and Thomas Migdalas.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathryn Velna Wheless Adams and Mary Vann Skidmore; one brother, Richard S. “Dick” Wheless; and her beloved golden retriever, Sophie.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Keck officiating. A private burial will be held on Friday at Eastview Cemetery in Wadesboro, NC.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Wells, Dr. Seabrook, Dr. Stillwell, Dr. Bost, and all the nurses and staff of Lexington Medical Center.
