John Brandon Eggers

July 5, 1961 ~ April 15, 2016 (age 54) 54 Years Old

Rev. John B. Eggers, Jr., 54, proudly of Boiling Springs and Chesnee, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, April 15, 2016 at his residence. Born July 5, 1961 in Watauga, County, NC, he was the loving husband to Betty Ragan Eggers for 33 years and the son of the late John Brandon Eggers, Sr. and Rachel Webster Eggers.

He was the founder and co-owner of Eggers Funeral Homes in Boiling Springs, Chesnee and Cliffside, NC. After obtaining a Mortuary Science Degree from the Mid-America School of Mortuary Science, John embarked on his journey in the funeral profession starting at Hampton Funeral Service in Boone, NC before moving to Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home also in Boone, NC as part-owner. He later returned to Hampton Funeral Service before moving to South Carolina to manage Forest Lawn Mortuaries of Boiling Springs, Chesnee and Woodruff. On January 2, 1996, John and his wife Betty began their own ministry in the funeral profession opening their first chapel in Boiling Springs, SC. He then went on to acquire Eggers Funeral Home and Crematory of Chesnee in 2001. He was appointed by the Governor to serve on the South Carolina Board of Funeral Service from 1998 to 2001. Most recently, John and his wife Betty undertook yet another funeral home, Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC to broaden their services they provide for the communities that have dedicated themselves to for over 20 years. One man's mission lived out to his very end.

John was ordained as a Baptist Minister on June 15, 1986 and began pastoring Tabernacle Baptist Church. Once in SC, John was a long-time, faithful member of Green Point Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon, taught Sunday School Adult 4 Class, filled in for the pastor and served on many committees. He was a teacher at Casey Creek Bible College and served on the Board of Trustees of Limestone College. John was a member of the Boiling Springs Business Association, Lions Club of Boiling Springs, Boiling Springs Lodge #413, member of the Scottish Rite, member of the Hejaz Shrine and a past Patron of the Boiling Springs Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #283.

John loved his wife, his church, his church family, the funeral profession, his staff but above all, his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed and most remembered for his charm, charisma, witty sense of humor and his constant compassion and encouragement shown to others.

In addition to his wife, Betty R. Eggers of the home, he is survived by his four legged children, Lucky and Charlie; his close friends, Tim and Rita Plummer and their son, Matthew; Cheryl Chastain, "NaNa," Bill and Sherry Noble and their son Chase and the staff of the Eggers Funeral Homes.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Eggers Funeral Home Chapel of Boiling Springs with Dr. David Lancaster, Dr. Jack Hames and Rev. Robert Buhl officiating. Burial will follow in Good Shepherd Memorial Park.
