John Walter “Johnny” Pierce, III, 69, died December 25, 2021, following a long illness.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2021 in the Peniel Baptist Church Cemetery, Timmonsville. The family will speak to those attending following the service.
Born in Florence County, he was a faithful son to the late John Walter “J.W.” Pierce, Jr. and the late Frances Virginia “Frankie” Munn Pierce. He was a member of Peniel Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon as well as in other capacities. Johnny was a graduate of Timmonsville High School and Francis Marion College. For many years he was a member of the United States Trotting Association and trained harness racing horses at the family farm in Timmonsville and spent many racing seasons in the Mid-Atlantic States. In later years he enjoyed working at White’s Auto Sales helping customers find an automobile to best suit their needs.
Surviving are his brother, Jason F. Pierce (Allison), Florence; his sister, Gail Creel, Florence; two nephews, William Creel and Cade Pierce; two nieces Lara Henry (Jim), and Cate Frances Pierce; one great-nephew Luke Henry, and two-great nieces Jenna Henry and Rachel Henry.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Richard Creel.
