John “Johnny” Andrew Spearman, 79, beloved husband of the late Frances Ellen Smith Spearman, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Callie and John Rainey Hospice House surrounded by his family. He was devoted to his family and his Lord and his life was marked by kindness, dedication, and a contagious smile.
Johnny was a native of Oconee County and the son of the late James Clarence and Morena Montez Looper Spearman and was reared by the late Rev. Roy and Evelyn Spearman. Johnny was in the last graduating class of Lavonia High School in 1964. He was retired from Duke Power with 44yrs of service serving as a nuclear maintenance technician and many years in construction. He is a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Williamston. He loved his Lord and served as a Deacon and in the Bus Ministry for many years at Beth Haven Baptist Church in Denver, NC. He served as a bus driver for both Westminster and West-Oak High School Bands. He was also a cheerleader chaperone for West-Oak. His greatest joy was sharing his testimony and singing in several churches, with his singing group “The Spearman Family”. He loved following NASCAR and enjoyed his many motorcycle adventures across the U.S. with his Beth Haven Buddies.
He was the father of Rev. Mark Andrew Spearman (Chris), Lisa Montez Driver (Dale), and the late Chuck Devane Spearman, and the late Angela Renee Spearman. His greatest joy in his life was his grandchildren, which referred to him as “Pee Paw”, Andrew Driver (Courtney), Derrik Driver (Erin), Rev. Justin Driver (Monica), Connor Spearman, Carson Grace Spearman, Jonathan Spearman (Jessica), Montez Garner (Chris), Jakob Spearman, Ashlyn Shirley; and great-grandchildren, Lucas Driver, Dillon Driver, Jordyn Driver, Levi Driver, Houston Driver, Kaysen Spearman, and Clayton Spearman. He also leaves behind sister; Toni Lavone Looper Holley, half-brothers; Stephen and David Spearman, half-sisters; Donna Burrell and Lynn Addis
In addition to his wife, parents, daughter and son he is preceded in death by brothers; James Lee “Jimmy” Spearman, Michael Wayne “Mikey” Spearman, Charles Marion Spearman, and sister; Rita Dianne Spearman Honea.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Sandifer Funeral Home with burial to follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Johnny’s name may be made to Trinity Baptist Church -Nursing Home Ministry, 324 Belton Drive, Williamston, SC 29697.
