Joseph Wendell Wimberly, Sr., 94, of 107 Righy St., Reevesville, husband of Delle Wiles Metts Wimberly, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Trident Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Friday at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church with Reverend Corey Leggett and Reverend Bobby Etheridge officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, St. George, SC. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5 to 8 pm at his residence.

Joe was born on February 5, 1922, in St. George, a son of the late Frederick M. and Lillie Infinger Wimberly. He was a dairy farmer, and owner of Joseph W. Wimberly Fertilizer. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church where he was church treasurer for 67 years, a deacon and trustee. He served on the State Board of Directors for SC Farm Bureau, Dorchester County Farm Bureau, was a trustee for the St. George public school and served on the Soil Conversation committee. He was a charter board member of the First National Bank of St. George. He was first married to the late Julia Pearl “Peep” Myers Wimberly for 60 years, the mother of his children. He was predeceased by his daughter, Terri Lynn Wimberly, a grandson, Joey Wimberly, a great-grandson, Brandon Wilson and siblings, Julia Collins, Emma Nelson, Jessie Pearl Collins, MarieCollins, Kimmie Rast, Bunyan Wimberly, Fred M. Wimberly, Jr. and Felicia Wimberly. Surviving is his wife; four sons, Joseph Wendell “Boley” (Naomi) Wimberly, Rowesville, Fred P. Wimberly, Columbia, Paul Wayne (Olivia) Wimberly, Mark “Ske-Bo” (Shari) Wimberly, all of Reeseville; two daughters, Nancy W. (Richard) Postell, St. George, Kay W. (Jimmy) Fender, Reeseville; grandchildren, Stephanie (Blaine) Heffelfinger, Karen (Sam) Postell, Richey (Kim) Postell, Kim (Brian) Joseph, Kevin (Amelia) Wimberly, Chris (Catherine) Wimberly, Jamey (Christie) Fender, Lindsay (Robert) Wood, Lance (Crystal) Wimberly, jason (Leanne) Wimberly, Juston Wimberly, Landon (Kelli) Wimberly, Jack Wimberly, Dylan Wimberly, Rebekah (Cody) Durr, Rachel Fogel and Hannah Fogle; and great-grandchildren, Riggs Heffelfinger, Jordan Heffelfinger, Kaitlynn Wilson, Brian Keith Joseph, Jr., Kileigh Joseph, Brayden Joseph, Amanda Wimberly, Meagan Wimberly, Melyna Wimberly, Calise Wimberly, mason Fender, maddison Fender, Myles Fender, Julia Wood, Emmy Wood, Austin Wimberly, Avery Wimberly, layton Wimberly, Cullen Wimberly, Anna Landi Wimberly, Lane Durr and Huck Durr.
