Keri Marlar Obituary

Keri Evans Marlar, age 43, of Anderson, SC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 13, 2025.

Born March 16, 1982, in Anderson, SC, she was the youngest daughter of Rudy Evans and Sue King Evans.

Keri was a graduate of Westside High School Class of 2000 and a graduate of Anderson College Class of 2004. She worked for Medicus Eye Group for 14 years. She was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church where she was part of the music staff and ministry.

Keri was a much-loved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She fought like a warrior against a rare form of cancer over the past five years. Her story reached thousands of people. Her faith, strength and dignity in the face of battle was a testimony to who she was. She was a devout Christian and never failed to praise Him during the storm. Keri was blessed with an amazing ability to sing, and she used her gift to glorify the Lord. Her voice was beautiful.

Keri, affectionately called “Goob” or “Goobie” by those closest to her, had an uncanny ability to make people laugh, had a great sense of humor and made everyone she met feel special. She didn’t take life too seriously, enjoyed a good joke, and believed laughter was the best medicine.

She was a devoted wife to Daniel, a loving mom to Callie and Camryn, and she had a special bond with her parents and sisters. Her life and her legacy will live on in all of those who were blessed enough to know Keri.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the oncology team at Duke University, Dr. Doster and staff at Anderson Cancer Center for the wonderful care provided to Keri. To all of the friends, family, and unknown friends within social media for the many prayers lifted up on Keri’s behalf during her cancer journey, we sincerely thank you as they were felt by all of us.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Daniel Marlar; parents, Rudy and Sue Evans; daughters, Callie Brooklyn Marlar and Camryn Blake Marlar; sisters, Susan Rizo and her husband Mark, and Lori Milford and her husband Billy; nephews, Drew Milford and Logan Milford and his wife Carina; great nephew, Cooper Milford; loving aunts, uncles, cousins; and countless friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 12:00-2:30 pm at Temple Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm with Dr. Steve Hurte, Dr. Brent Carr, and Rev. Mike Hawkins officiating. Burial will be at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 2:00 pm.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Temple Baptist Church Kids Camp or AWANA Ministries, 2905 Standridge Rd., Anderson, SC 29625.

The family will be at the home of her parents, Rudy and Sue Evans.
