Larry Calvin Roberts

Chesnee, SC

Larry Calvin Roberts, 74, husband of Sybil Collins Roberts, died July 14, 2015, at Regional Hospice Home. Born October 11, 1940, he was a son of the late Paul Calvin and Flossie Belle Steadman Roberts.

Larry worked in life insurance sales for over 40 years. During this time, including retirement, he worked part-time as a funeral assistant with several local funeral homes. He was a former volunteer fireman and used his love for fishing as a former field tester for Mann’s Bait Company. He was instrumental in starting the SC chapter of BASSMASTERS. He was an avid quail and rabbit hunter with a deep love for his bird dogs and beagles.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Mark T. Roberts (Tonya); two daughters, Carla R. Thomas (Chad) and Kelly R. Wiggen (Brian); three grandchildren, Ty and Tanner Thomas, and Lirah Wiggen; and a step-grandson, Ethan Wiggen; a brother, Donald Roberts (Earselle); a sister, Ruth R. Kinley; and his hunting and fishing friends and re-hab friends. He was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Dewey and Lillian Roberts, and a brother-in-law, Roy Kinley.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, at Bobo Funeral Chapel. Viewing will be available from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 16, at Chesnee Southside Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Todd Justice and Rev. David Frost. Burial will be private.
