Marjorie E. Childers, age 72, passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Conneaut, Ohio on Sept. 14, 1949 and was a daughter of the late Homer E. Elwood, Sr. and Juanita Lee Elwood.
Marjorie worked at several places during her life, including Conso; the Ashe Insurance Agency, Lockhart Schools as a Kindergarten Aide, Union County Clerk of Court and retired from the Union County Supervisor’s Office. She was an active member of the Lockhart First Baptist Church. Marjorie had an infectious smile, a wonderful laugh, a sweet, sweet spirit and will be remembered for her love and compassion for all.
She is survived by her husband and soulmate of 54 years, William Arnold Childers, daughter, Monica Childers Vlock (Scott); son, Jason Arnold Childers (Catherine) all of Union; her precious grandchildren, Abigail Vlock, Graham Vlock (SaraBeth), Anna Claire Vlock, William Childers, Warren Childers and Calee Childers; brother, Homer E. Elwood, Jr. (Annette) of Laurens, sisters, Loree Yarborough of Chester, Bonnie Crocker (Steve) of Gaffney and Gina Harris (Joey) of Sharon.
The family wishes to thank Bruce Cook of Compassus Hospice for the support, kindness and love he shared with Marjorie and their entire family.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 PM, Thursday, Sept. 15th, 2022 at Lockhart First Baptist Church, 126 Armory Road, Union, SC 29379, by Dr. Don McCutcheon and Pastor Drew Rogers, with burial to follow at Lockhart Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jason Childers, William Childers, Warren Childers, Scott Vlock, Graham Vlock, and Dwayne Grant. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Fowler, Brian Fowler, Bobby Gene Palmer, Allen Cabaniss, Jason Plemmons, Dodie McCutcheon, and Wayne Todd.
The family will greet friends Wednesday evening, September 14, 2022 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at Lockhart First Baptist Church.
Marjorie’s family will gather at the home of her daughter, Monica Vlock, 124 Estes Rd, Union, SC 29379.
