Services for Mary McEntire, 89, will be held 11:00am Friday, November 8, 2013 at Cayce United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Thursday November 7, 2013 at Cayce United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.

Mrs. McEntire died Tuesday, November 5, 2013. Born in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth C. and Irene Medlin Gunnell. She was a long time member of Cayce United Methodist Church. Mrs. McEntire retired from Capital City Casket Company, which she owned with her late husband, James. She was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed gardening, and was ready to travel at a moments’ notice. She and her husband visited every state in the contiguous United States.
Surviving are: daughter, Kaye Starnes (Lance) of Zebulon, NC; sons, James R. McEntire (Nancy) of West Columbia, and Dennis W. McEntire (Lynn) of Lexington; grandchildren, David Starnes, Tracy Wessel, Leigh Anne Geisler, Lisa Hicks, Shelley Jackson, Stewart McEntire, and Connor McEntire; great-grandchildren, Will Hicks, Addie Hicks, Gracie Hicks, Ashley Starnes, Stephen Starnes, and Jake Geisler. Mrs. McEntire was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James L. McEntire; brothers, Joseph Gunnell and Melvin Gunnell; and sister, Helen Floyd.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Atria Forest Lake for their care ankindness over the past two years, Compassionate Care Hospice, and the wonderful companions from BeWell Home Services for their comforting attention during the last weeks.
