Patsy (Butler) Searcy

Patsy Butler Searcy, age 81 of Forest City, died Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at her home.  Patsy was born in Rutherford County on October 26, 1939 and was a daughter of the late Jim and Lela Camp Butler.  She was a lifelong member of Florence Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir for many years as well as being active in her Sunday school class.  She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Patsy worked for the Rutherford County Schools in the cafeteria at Forest City Elementary School, Dunbar, East Rutherford High School and finally at Forest City/Dunbar where she retired with 21 years’ service. 

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Malcom Searcy, brothers, Harold Butler, Billy Butler, and sister, Irene McCorkle. 

Survivors include her husband of more than 60 years, Al Searcy of the home, sons, Mike Searcy and wife Kay of Forest City, Danny Searcy and wife Crystal of Wood Park, Colorado, and Reverend Dr. Nelson Searcy and wife Kelly of Boco Raton, Florida, a brother, Jimmy Butler and wife Martha of Forest City, and sister, Kathleen Butler Arrowood of Forest City.  There are also three grandchildren, Lauren, Nick, and Alex.

The family will hold a private family service at The Padgett and King Chapel with interment at Cool Springs Cemetery. Her son, the Reverend Dr. Nelson Searcy will officiate the service. 

Patsy will lie in repose at Padgett and King on Thursday afternoon from 11 until 3 o'clock for anyone wishing to pay their respects and sign the guest registry.  

The family wishes to thank her sister-in-law, Martha Butler for her devoted and loving care to Patsy during her illness.  No words are adequate to express our sincere gratitude to her.
