Richard “Dick” Haynes Wood, Jr.

Richard “Dick” Haynes Wood, Jr., 85, passed away November 12, 2023.

A native of Greenville County, he was the son of the late Richard Haynes Wood, Sr. and Lois Crow Wood. Dick was a 1956 graduate of Greer High School, 1960 graduate of Presbyterian College, a U.S. Army Veteran, and 3rd generation funeral director following his grandfather, John D. Wood, and his father, Richard H. Wood, Sr., as President of The Wood Mortuary, Inc., and Wood Memorial Park. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and attended Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Sharone Bishop Wood of the home; two daughters, Teresa “Terri” Wood Long of Greer and Tina L. Wood and her husband, Bob Dellert of Greenville; and a grandson, Parker H. Long and his fiancé, Mary Frances Edwards of Greer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at The Wood Mortuary conducted by Rev. Wayne Warren. Burial will follow in Wood Memorial Park. Staff members of The Wood Mortuary will serve as pallbearers. Honorary escorts will be the staff of The Wood Mortuary and Wood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 9:30-10:45 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at The Wood Mortuary.
