Virgil Patrick Smith

Virgil Patrick “Pat” Smith, 81, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Born in Saluda and the son of the late Virgil Dudley Smith and Emma Bell Green Smith, he was the husband of Linda Kay Perry Smith. He was retired from the US Army, where he served three tours in Vietnam. He was also a retired Police Officer with the Town of Saluda and retired Deputy Sherriff with the Saluda County Sherriff’s office and a former employee of Ramey Funeral Home for 18 years. Mr. Smith was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Kay Perry Smith of Saluda, one son, Ricky Patrick Smith (Gwendolyn) of Saluda, one daughter, Kimberly Ann Smith of Saluda, four grandchildren, Tara Rhodes (Ben), Heather Harvley (Sammy), Rena Martin (Vance) and Dana Johnson and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2022 at Good Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Beauford and Rev. Burton Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Mayson Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
