Willson Williams Obituary

Willson "Mack" McKewn Williams, 84, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of JoAnn Stevens King-Williams entered into eternal rest Thursday, January 5, 2023. His memorial service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023, in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends an hour before the service. Interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel. 

Mack was born May 4, 1938, in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, the oldest son of the late John O. Williams and the late Emma Law Woodard Williams. After attending The Citadel, Mack was a graduate of Dallas Institute - Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science. He was employed by Mayer Funeral Home, Georgetown SC as a funeral director and embalmer for fifty years. He also served as Coroner for Georgetown County from 1977-1997. Before moving to Mt Pleasant in 2009, Mack was a member of the Georgetown Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and Deacon. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church, The Winyah Indigo Society, The Huguenot Society of SC, the SC Funeral Directors Association, the SC Coroners Association and was a Life Member of The Citadel Alumni Association. 

He is survived by his loving wife, JoAnn King-Williams; son, Willson McKewn Williams, Jr. (Ellen) of Aiken, SC; sister, Mary Elizabeth Beaty of Moncks Corner, SC; three brothers, F. Eugene Williams (Jane), John B. Williams (Pop), and Thomas E. Williams (Ann) all of Pinopolis, SC; two grandsons, Jacob McKewn Williams of Columbia, SC, and Luke McSwain Williams of Aiken, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years and mother of his son, Ann Gasque Williams (d. 2000).
